What happens at Skeleton Rave stays at Skeleton Rave
I sometimes get the feeling that myself, actual-tsundere, pants-renko and shotaconpenguin are in a group based on silly in-jokes, Expo shenanigans, chicken nuggets, communism, terrible puns, physical violence and a mutual love-hate relationship
What is it with me and drawing maps lately? Have a Europe.
And on that note, I’m off to Spain. See you all on the 27th!
PLEASE REBLOG THIS! THIS IS IMPORTANT!
People, do NOT write or draw on your ballot papers, or your vote will not be counted, and your paper classed as spoiled. I have seen a ton of pictures of postal ballots, like the one above, that have been written on by yes supporters in particular and it is infuriating. For goodness sake, don’t throw your damn vote away like this. Your vote could be the one that tips the balance.
Also, DO NOT post a picture of your ballot on social media! You risk invalidating it.
This really isn’t surprising when you consider the fact that a lot of people prefer to be entertained than be informed. Gone are the days of the real History Channel…The Learning Channel(TLC), etc. I don’t know for sure if this is an intentional “dumbing down” of the American public, or if the majority of people in this country just prefer to be fucking ignorant…I don’t know, but the crap that is on tv today is certainly a reflection of what people want to see. And it’s mainly the shit on the right, not the left.
It’s not an intentional dumbing down, it’s just what private networks will tend towards over time. These days there are far more channels - and more choice - than ever, so to compete, channels need to show whatever sells the most, even if it means sacrificing their quality and integrity. This is how the History channel went from all of history to focusing down on the Nazis and WWII to “ancient astronauts” and truckers/bikers/pawn shops. The solution is for more funds for educational programming from either the public/government sector, or by non-profit educational organisations or universities/research programmes.
(Also, while I appreciate the sentiment, some of the stuff on the left simply isn’t real. The GMO stuff, for example. Monsanto may be an unethical company, but there is absolutely no danger, environmental or health-wise, from GMOs. The panic about them is akin to the panic about vaccines.)
I found that photo set that procyonvulpecula made when we went to London and now I am sad because we’ll probably won’t be able to do that for like another year or so.
This is why you don’t make internet friends.
We should meet up again some time this term!
I’ll be in Spain tomorrow for the next ten days (possibly without Internet… I’ll set up a queue!). Will I have to draw a new national boundary on my map of Europe when I get back?
