It really irks me how when you mention Richard Dawkins, 99% of the time the first thing people think is “atheist.”
Like… he wrote one book about atheism and lots and lots of really great books about evolution. He invented the selfish gene theory. He invented the word “meme,” for God’s sake! (no pun intended)
And yet people reduce him down to someone who doesn’t believe in something. I don’t know, it just irks me how one of our great science writers is forever associated with his opinion on religion. I think of him first and foremost as an evolutionary biologist, then a science populariser, and then - only then - the relatively boring role he has as an apologist for atheism.
